Express Entry is a Canadian immigration system that applicants use to apply under the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class Canadian immigration streams.

Those applying as Federal Skilled Workers need to have one year or more of full-time paid work experience in an O, A or B classified occupation and 67 points or higher on the Federal Skilled Worker Points System. To learn more about the points system visit

Federal Skilled Tradespeople need to have at least two years of work experience in a skilled trade in the past 5 years and have a job offer from a Canadian employer of at least one year OR a Canadian skilled trade certificate or qualification.

Members of the Canadian Experience Class need to have at least one year of full time paid skilled work experience in Canada.

Every two weeks, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada select applicants from the Express Entry system based on their Comprehensive Ranking System score which is calculated based on age, level of completed education, language abilities in French or English, skilled work experience, previous work or study in Canada, a job offer in Canada and having a sibling living in Canada who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. If the applicant is married, they also earn points for their spouse's level of completed education, language abilities in French or English, previous work or study in Canada, or if they have a sibling living in Canada who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
